The 5G-ENRICH project brings together three key partners combining academic excellence, technological innovation, and industry expertise to create Romania's first 5G Standalone educational mobile private network installed in the Politehnica Bucharest’s campus, both indoors and ourdoors.
This partnership establishes a living laboratory for innovation within the university environment, transforming traditional educational boundaries through cutting-edge 5G technology.
The National University of Science and Technology Politehnica Bucharest represented via the CAMPUS Research Institute, the AI Multimedia Lab and the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications, and Information Technology, the Vodafone Innovation Hub serves as the project coordinator and primary research institution. As Romania's largest technical university and the country's most successful research entity in EU programs, UPB leads the overall project management, technical coordination, and smart campus implementation.
As Romania's leading mobile network operator, Vodafone Romania plays a central role in designing and implementing the advanced 5G Standalone infrastructure and edge components. The company brings extensive expertise in network design, planning, and optimization.
This partnership builds upon Vodafone's existing relationship with Politehnica Bucharest, including the Vodafone Innovation Hub in May 2023.
